As off October 2014 the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (Trademarks and Designs) will begin examining the indication for goods and services for vague and broad terms. This was published by WIPO in the Madrid Highlights Number 3/2014. WIPO says that this new practice will apply to international registrations in which the EU has been designated (either in an international application or a subsequent designation). This change brings OHIM´s practice in line with common EU national and regional IP-Offices. This has already been announced in February 2014.
